I think my wine glass is broken. It's empty again.

Richard Yau August 21, 2018

If you’re like me, you often find yourself standing in the wine aisle at your grocery store, unable to decide whether you should purchase the same red you’ve been buying the last three months or venture into the unknown and try something new. But what if you waste your money and choose a red you don’t like? Maybe you’ll go for a white instead. Do you even know which types of whites you enjoy? Once again, you settle for the Cabernet. Safe, but nothing special.

Enter: Bright Cellars. As I confided in some friends about my wine dilemma, they told me about this wine subscription that uses a seven-question quiz to systematically match your taste buds to four different wines you’ll love. The quiz’s algorithm was created by two MIT grads, but the questions are anything but complicated. It asks you how you take your tea or which type of chocolate you could eat for the rest of your life (do I have to pick just one??).

The quiz matched me with four wines. Some I’d never even heard of and others I’ve always been too intimidated to try. Like an Indula Pinotage from Western Cape, South Africa? Or a Bonarda from Argentina?

So go ahead and take their online quiz to discover your matches too. If you want to try your wine matches, use this link for a $50 credit on your first order and get them sent straight to your door. Cheers!

Full disclosure: I’ve been a Bright Cellars employee for a while now (but a wine and cheese enthusiast for much longer). I am constantly inspired by the level of innovation and creativity around me that goes into something as seemingly simple as wine and cheese. They really do go above and beyond to make sure this experience, and your matches, are incredible.
